Why write detailed CV?

It takes a lot of time to write all details, edit CV to make it look nice and check English. Why should you do this? There are several reasons.

1. You want to be considered for a certain vacancy. So do some other people. HR manager is sitting in the office reading CV's from anyone who has sent it. If one CV has more information than another, the first will be chosen for further investigation. Of course, HR manager could ask you about additional information. However, why should he (or she), if there is another CV containing everything?

2. Moreover, this is why CV should better be structured and organized for ease of reading. Divide it into sections. Highlight important things using different fonts (not more than 3 different fonts in the document). Use tables to describe your skills. The easiest way is to show yourself, but not to make others hunt for details.

3. You are sending CV to us and we are storing it in our database. Eventually some Korean company HR manager will look at it (together with hundreds of others). Don't you want to catch his or her attention immediately? If there will be not enough details, they will not give you a chance to add more. So, write about all experience you've ever had. May be something that seems unimportant to you now will be of great importance for prospective employer.

4. It is also a good idea to do some formatting to make a nice-looking CV. Let's give readers some pleasant minutes while they'll be studying your CV. No doubt, they will be thankful for it.

5. Photo is another important thing. Prospective employer can't meet you in person before you arrive to your work place. But he is willing to! So photo gives a first impression about your personality. The same about personal details - marital status, children, age, hobbies. Tell about yourself. You are not a device for certain job, but a human being ;-)

But as for USA HR managers, photo and personal details are not important at all. They think if you are a professional, it will be nice to deal with you no matter what age, sex etc. you are.

Why give a lot of contact information?

May be just e-mail address will be enough. No, it will not. The reason is very simple.

The CV evaluation process can take a long time. Several companies will look at it and study it taking all time they need to make a decision. However, when (we hope) some of them will be interested in you, they will be eager to talk to you just at that moment.

And your mail server will be down just that day. Or you will be out for holidays. Or hundred other reasons will not let you answer our e-mail. Next day they are choosing someone else to talk to about this job.

This is why we need all contact data you have - home and work address and phone numbers, several e-mails (if you have more than one), mobile phone number, fax, ICQ UIN. And for emergency situations - best friend or relative's phone number.

We will not share this information with anybody without your permission. However, we need it to be able to find you quickly. Our experience in recruiting proves that absence or incompleteness of contact information can cost one a good job.
